The Journey of Paul Kalkbrenner

Kalkbrenner is synonymous with dance music, he came of age in a golden era for techno, turning twelve when the Berlin Wall fell, and spending his teenage years raving, before starting to DJing and collect records as electronic dance music’s first tidal wave spilled throughout the city. He realized early that DJing wasn’t for him, and has focused on producing and playing his own music live ever since.

Paul released his first album, Superimpose, marking the beginning of his career. This debut on Bpitch Control showcased his unique sound and established him in the electronic music community.

Zeit album release

Paul gained international recognition with his hit single "Gebrünn Gebrünn”. This track solidified his status as a leading figure in the electronic music genre.

Self album is released.

Stars in and scores Berlin Calling, a cult film depicting Berlin’s techno culture. Lead single “Sky And Sand” has a record setting chart topping run and will become one of the most iconic electronic singles in history.

He performed at major festivals worldwide, captivating audiences with his live sets. 2010 year marked a significant expansion of his fan base, which was captured in the feature, Paul Kalkbrenner - A Live Documentary

Icke Wieder album is released.

Launches label Paul Kalkbrenner Musik label and releases Guten Tag album

Paul signs with Sony/Columbia and released his critically acclaimed album 7, sampling iconic artists like Jefferson Airplane, Luther Vandross and D Train. This project showcased his evolution and creativity in music production and was accompanied by the video trilogy ‘Florian’.

Paul releases his three part viral mixtape Back To The Future, an homage to the 90s rave tracks he grew up listening to on the radio as a child in East Berlin. Paul is also asked to officially remix Leonard Cohen’s ‘You Want It Darker’.

Parts of Life album is released. Paul is a headline live act worldwide known for avoiding trends and maintaining a distinct, analog-driven live setup.

He adapted to the changing music landscape, embracing new technologies. This year highlighted his resilience and innovation as an artist.

Paul headlines Berlin’s Wuhlheide, selling out the renowned open-air venue in one of his biggest hometown shows to date.

Building on that momentum, Paul headlines Berlin’s iconic Waldbühne, delivering a sold-out performance at the historic venue and marking a defining moment in his live career.

Paul releases The Essence LP, sampling Depeche Mode on leading single “Dreaming On.” The single “Que Ce Soit Clair” achieved gold status in Belgium and France, and the album entered the Top 10 album charts in Germany, Belgium and Austria. He has his biggest touring year to date. In September, his hometown club SV Sparta Lichtenberg honours him by renaming its ground the Paul Kalkbrenner Sportfeld, celebrating his long-standing connection to the team as a former player and lifelong supporter.
